Matthew Lube, MD, FACS, is a general surgeon with Orlando Health Medical Group Surgery. He is board certified in general surgery with added qualifications in surgical critical care. His clinical interests include emergency general surgery and caring for the critically injured in the intensive care setting.

Surgical Critical Care

Dr. Lube is skilled surgeon who treats emergency and critically ill or injured patients and then continues to facilitate their care when they are moved to the critical care unit. Here he monitors the patient's condition and coordinates treatments and therapies among specialists and the critical care staff with the goal of placing patients on the road to successful recovery.

He is part of the Orlando Health surgical critical care team, which sees more than 85,000 patients, including 3,400 major trauma cases, each year at its accredited, award-winning Orlando Regional Medical Center Level One Trauma Center.

Dr. Lube's Training

Dr. Lube earned his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. He completed his residency in general surgery as well as his fellowship in surgical critical care at Orlando Health.

About Dr. Lube

Dr. Lube is the medical director of respiratory therapy for the Seminole State College healthcare program and also holds appointments with the Florida State University College of Medicine and University of Central Florida College of Medicine, where he is a former surgical clerkship director.

In addition to certification as a director for the Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses, Dr. Lube has been published in textbooks and peer-reviewed journals.

He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and holds memberships in the Society of Critical Care Medicine, Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and Southeastern Surgical Congress.
