Dr. Rick Nieves-Ramos is a board-certified interventional pain physician with Orlando Health Neuroscience and Rehabilitation Institute. His areas of expertise include:
- Neuromodulation, including intrathecal pump placement
- Peripheral nerve stimulation
- Peripheral field stimulation
- Scrambler therapy for neuropathic pain
- Spinal disorders and treatments
Anesthesia and Interventional Pain Management
Dr. Ramos is a leader in the field of neuromodulation, which includes intrathecal pump placement and management, along with spinal cord stimulation and peripheral nerve stimulation. He is one of a few neuromodulators in Central Florida who can perform dorsal root ganglion stimulation, which is a form of neuromodulation that requires advanced training and techniques. He is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in pain medicine.
He has been an investigator on several research teams, including work on peripheral nerve stimulation for knee pain. Dr. Ramos is a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the Spine Intervention Society, the North American Neuromodulation Society, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists and the California Society of Anesthesiologists. He has served as a medical volunteer on humanitarian missions to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
Outside of work, Dr. Ramos enjoys outdoor activities and watching college football with his family and friends. He was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Nieves-Ramos’ Training
Dr. Ramos earned his medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus. He completed his residency in anesthesia at the University of Miami Jackson Health Systems. His fellowship in pain management was completed at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
