Vijakumar Kasi, MD, PhD, FACC, is a member of Orlando Health Heart Institute Cardiology Group, an affiliate of Orlando Health Heart institute and member of Orlando Health Physician Group.
Dr. Kasi specializes in coronary and peripheral vascular interventions. He is currently the Director of Cardiovascular Research and Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship training program at Orlando Health. He completed his MBBS at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India and his PhD in 1998 from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC.
He subsequently did his cardiology training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA and interventional cardiology at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, MI. His research interests include regenerative medicine, stem cell therapy and heart failure. While at Emory he conducted NIH funded stem cell research and he is currently a part of the NIH fundedCardiovascular cell therapy research network (CCTRN).
He is also actively involved in cardiac and peripheral vascular clinical trials. Dr. Kasi is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease,Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Vascular Medicine.
