Free SKYWARN Basic Spotter Training Class is February 14
The Orlando Health
Emergency Preparedness Office, in cooperation with the National Weather Service
in Melbourne, will be hosting a Basic SKYWARN Spotter Training Class on Tuesday,
February 14, 2017 from 9 AM to 11 AM.
SKYWARN Training is
geared towards anyone with an interest in public safety and communications
during extreme weather events.
SKYWARN is a program
developed and taught by National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists and
consists of trained weather spotters who report severe and hazardous weather to
help in the weather warning process. SKYWARN Spotter reports provide vital
"ground truth" to the NWS.
This is a FREE course
that runs approximately 2 hours. The class is open to the public.
