Local Students Meet with Orlando Health Leaders for Career Guidance
A group of local high school students visited Orlando Health on July
13 to have career discussions with team members from Talent Management &
Strategic Planning.
Ten students who excel academically and are successful in their
extracurricular activities are participating in a pilot program this summer
called the Elevation Scholars Program, to receive mentoring from Orlando Health
leaders.
The Elevation Foundation is the philanthropic endeavor of several
local businesses and philanthropists working to transform distressed communities
and address educational inequality among high-performing students from low
income families.
There are 150 students at three area Title 1 high schools
participating in its programs and many of the students expressed an interest in
the field of medicine but lack a helpful healthcare network that can guide them
or share experience in the industry.
“Our hope is that by facilitating meaningful experiences and
beneficial relationships we can help these high-performing students access their
dreams of serving others in the field of medicine,” says Wendy Radeka, corporate
director, Talent.
