Orlando Health Shows Support to Teachers on the Frontlines of Education

Orlando, FL (September 17, 2020) – Orlando Heath physicians, leadership and team members have partnered with Orange County Public Schools to show support to 3,247 teachers and school staff in Orange County.

Thirty-one schools in the Central Florida area were selected based on their proximity to nine Orlando Health hospitals and facilities. Team members from each Orlando Health location wrote handwritten notes of encouragement to show their support for their fellow frontline workers in education. In addition to the notes, each school received reusable lunchboxes and edible treats.

“We know first-hand how impactful it is to feel supported by the community,” said Bridget Keefe, director of Community Relations at Orlando Health. “Teachers play such an important role and we feel honored to show them our gratitude as we begin the new school year.”

The donations are set to take place over three weeks and will also include schools in Seminole and Lake Counties. 

“We deeply appreciate the thoughtfulness and support of Orlando Health in recognizing our hard-working teachers and school staff,” said Scott Howat, Chief Communications Officer at Orange County Public Schools. “We were glad to support healthcare workers in the spring when our teachers and students made PPE equipment on schools’ 3D printers, and we’re honored that Orlando Health physicians, leadership and team members felt the call to write personal notes for our teachers this fall. As we all often say, we’re in this and will get through this pandemic together.”
