Your appendix is a small, tube-like organ attached to the large intestine. A blockage causes appendicitis, leading to increased pressure, problems with blood flow and inflammation. When this happens, your appendix must be removed. If the blockage is not treated, the appendix can burst and spread infection into the abdomen, a condition called peritonitis.

Depending on your condition, our skilled doctors may perform an appendectomy, a minimally invasive surgery, to remove your appendix. An appendectomy may involve robotic-assisted laparoscopic techniques where we make small incisions to remove your appendix. This leads to less scarring and blood loss, reduced risk of infection and trauma to your body, and a faster recovery.
