Burns are the fourth leading cause of injury in the United States and can occur from thermal, chemical, friction, radiation and/or electrical exposure. Burns can vary greatly in degree, depth and surface area, but all require some level of treatment and attention to reduce the risk of infection, fluid resuscitation and dermal healing strategies. Our skilled staff is experienced with treatment of all levels of burn care and management of skin grafts while initiating the rehabilitation process.

The team consists of a medical director, certified rehabilitation registered nurses, licensed clinical social workers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, speech language pathologists, neuropsychologists, dietitian, case management and other specialist consultants as needed. Each individual patient and his or her family are active members of the team and are key players in setting rehabilitation goals.

Our experienced team can apply current scientific strategies and knowledge with coordination for nutrition, skin hygiene, therapeutic interventions to maximize flexibility, range of motion, strengthening and functional skill recovery following burn trauma. Due to our ability to provide services through the continuum of care: from admission to our Level One Trauma Center at ORMC, through the Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center Institute for Advanced Rehabilitation for inpatient therapies and to our Outpatient Rehabilitation facilities throughout the tri-county area, we have the flexibility, experience and geographic capabilities to follow patients from start to finish in their recovery process. We also have multiple Wound Healing Centers including hyperbaric oxygen therapies for long term/complex cases.
