The choice of treatment for cervical cancer depends largely on the stage it has reached. As with other types of cancer, the sooner cervical cancer is detected and treated, the better the outcomes. Other factors your healthcare team will consider when determining the appropriate treatment include your age, your desire to preserve fertility and your overall health.

Orlando Health Cancer Institute uses the latest technologies and innovative therapies to treat cervical cancer. Depending on the stage of the cancer, treatment may include one or more of the following methods: surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, targeted drug therapy or immunotherapy. Surgical options may include cryosurgery, laser surgery, LEEP electrosurgical excision, minimally invasive laparoscopic hysterectomy or robotic-assisted surgery or an open abdominal approach.

At Orlando Health Cancer Institute, each patient is treated by a multidisciplinary team providing compassionate, collaborative care each step of the way. You’ll have access to the broadest selection of treatments, including clinical trials that offer groundbreaking drug therapy options. A personalized healthcare plan provides your treatment schedule spelled out from start to finish so you’ll know exactly what to expect and can plan accordingly. In addition, our nurse navigators can help coordinate your care, schedule your lab tests and handle other administrative details, as needed, so that you can focus on healing. And, in keeping with our goal to treat the “whole” patient — body, mind and spirit — you’ll have access to emotional, social and spiritual support through the Integrative Medicine program.
