Endobronchial Valve Placements
An endobronchial valve placement is a procedure used to help treat several different lung conditions by implanting a small, one-way valve into an airway to help control the flow of air. The valve typically controls the airflow of the lung so that when the lung exhales, it will let that small compartment of air empty completely, but when you inhale, the specific valve will not let any air in, thus helping the lung completely fill and empty consistently. This treatment has shown to effectively help patients with emphysema, whose lungs have trouble expanding and contracting.
