Our approach to treating your shoulder fracture will depend on the location and severity of your break. The most common fracture is in the collarbone, but injuries to the shoulder blade or humerus also can occur.

If your broken bones still line up correctly, your injury can heal without surgery. We may recommend a simple sling to hold your shoulder in place, ice to reduce swelling and medication to manage your pain. Immediate physical therapy also can improve your mobility. If you need surgery, we may use minimally invasive methods to reduce your pain and recovery time.
