Most gallstones do not require treatment because there are rarely any symptoms. People who experience symptoms such as abdominal pain, yellowing of the eyes and a fever with chills likely will need surgery to remove their gallbladder.

Our surgeons may use laparoscopy, a minimally invasive procedure, to remove the gallbladder. During laparoscopy, we will make small incisions in the abdomen and insert a camera-mounted probe to see inside the area. We will use surgical instruments to remove the gallbladder. We also may consider robotic-assisted surgery, which involves using one incision to extract the gallbladder.
