Our oncology team initially may decide not to treat this type of leukemia in its early stages because it is a very slow-growing cancer and often can be managed successfully in its later stages.
Our team may decide to begin a treatment plan if tests show a progression of the cancer or some deterioration in your overall health. Some people experience low blood cell count, infection, or an enlarged spleen or lymph nodes at some point. Chemotherapy and other procedures — drugs and surgery, among other options — can lead to partial or complete remission of the cancer, even after a recurrence.
