Learn more about our services at South Lake Hospital
An incisional hernia occurs when an incision made in a prior surgery causes a weakness in the abdominal muscle wall, allowing the tissues of the abdomen to protrude.
We will recommend one of two procedures: open repair surgery, in which we make an incision for access to your hernia, or minimally invasive laparoscopy surgery. Hernia surgeries take about one hour to perform and generally do not require an overnight stay in the hospital. In either procedure, our team will use stitches or mesh to reinforce the abdomen wall.
