Cardiac catheterization may help us determine the best way to treat you if you have chest pain, a heart attack or other symptoms indicative of coronary artery disease.
Our cardiologists will insert a catheter, or thin tube, into your arm, upper thigh or neck and thread it into your heart. We may put a special dye in the catheter, which travels through your bloodstream to your heart, so we can see any blockages on X-ray images. We also may use ultrasound and open your arteries by inflating a tiny balloon or by installing a tube-like stent.
