Our cardiologists will thoroughly assess your condition and health history before deciding the best way to fix issues with your implantable cardiac device. We may replace the entire device, including the leads, or insert new leads. In some cases, we may leave your old wires in place.
If you have developed an infection on your device or its leads, we may replace the wires or the entire device. In rare cases, the device may stop working if a wire or the surrounding insulation breaks. Your veins have limited space, so our decision may be based on your age. If you are relatively young, we may remove the leads to leave more space for insertion of a new or more advanced device in the future.
