Suction Assisted Protein Lipectomy (SAPL)

For some patients with advanced disease and a higher “solid” component to his/her lymphedema, this procedure which involves liposuction can help reduce the extremity volume and ultimately help reduce infections. Combining this procedure with regular compression is paramount and the benefits will not be seen without compliance with a compression program instituted by our rehab team. Additional procedures such as VLNT or LVBP may be helpful as an adjunct following this therapy.
