Outpatient Stroke Rehabilitation

Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center Institute for Advanced Rehabilitation Outpatient program utilizes a patient first philosophy as the foundation of all of our programs. Our staff is specialized in helping individuals impacted by a stroke progress towards their own personal goals following discharge from acute care services, inpatient rehabilitation, home health services, or even years after the initial diagnosis. Our focus is on community integration and maximizing an individual’s level of independence through improving areas of weakness and training in strategies to help compensate for those weaknesses that may continue after discharge. We work closely with physicians, community organizations, and state and local agencies in order for our patients to achieve the best possible personal outcome. We utilize a team approach and incorporate caregivers throughout the rehabilitation process. Our highly trained staff of physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, neuropsychologists, and a nurse case manager all have extensive knowledge and experience in helping individuals recover following a stroke. We tailor our treatment plans to meet an individual’s own person goals with the primary focus on increasing independence whether it be in the home, in the community, when returning to the work force, or entering an academic setting.
