Chaplain Phyllis Fitzwater provides leadership for the Spiritual Care Volunteer Department. She is a board certified clinical chaplain with the College of Pastoral Supervision & Psychotherapy. She is also a certified director of volunteer services with the Florida Association Directors of Volunteer Services. She has served as a hospice chaplain, trauma chaplain, ICU chaplain, Cardiac chaplain as well as serving as an oncology chaplain. She has been in the chaplain ministry for over fifteen years and served in various areas of congregational ministry.
She developed and founded the Spiritual Care Volunteer program at Orlando Health. Spiritual Care Volunteers serve in various areas of ministry working in collaboration with the unit based chaplain. She developed the No One Dies Alone program that now serves Orlando Health patients and families. These Spiritual Care Volunteers provide spiritual and emotional support for those in the dying process. Spiritual Care Volunteers serve in various areas to extend hope and comfort.
