Bio
Richard Bosshardt, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has practiced in Lake County since 1989. His clinical interests include cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery, skin cancer excision and reconstruction, and aesthetic surgery of the face and body.
Dr. Bosshardt earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. Trained as a surgeon in the U.S. Navy, he completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the U.S. Naval Regional Medical Center in Oakland California. Dr. Bosshardt served as a general surgeon at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan, for three years before being honorably discharged with the rank of commander. He went on to complete a residency in plastic surgery under world-renowned plastic surgeon David Ralph Millard, Jr., MD, at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami.
Since starting in private practice, Dr. Bosshardt has participated regularly in overseas medical missions to provide reconstructive surgery to children with cleft lip, cleft palate and other problems. His travels have taken him to the Philippines, Guatemala, Peru, Brazil, Venezuela, the West Bank and Mexico.
Dr. Bosshardt currently writes a monthly article for Lake Healthy Living Magazine. For 25 years, he wrote the weekly “House Calls” column in the Orlando Sentinel and was one of the original bloggers for the Sentinel’s blog site, Hype Orlando.
Dr. Bosshardt is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Florida Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Florida Medical Association and the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons. During his personal time, he has completed multiple marathons, triathlons and ironman events.

Why do some Orlando Health physicians not have a patient experience rating?
The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions, shown above, from our nationally-recognized Press-Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
