Joseph Gallagher, MD, is the program director for the Advanced Colon and Rectal Minimally Invasive Surgery Program, and an associate program director for the PGY VI Colon and Rectal Residency Program at the Colon and Rectal Clinic of Orlando. He serves as a consultant surgeon for colon and rectal surgery at Orlando Health UF Health Cancer Center. Dr. Gallagher is board certified by both the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Gallagher earned his master’s degree in physiology and his medical degree from the UHS/Chicago Medical School. He then completed his general surgery residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville, followed by a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Colon and Rectal Clinic of Orlando/Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Gallagher specializes in advanced robotic as well as laparoscopic colon surgery for benign and malignant disease, treatment of common anorectal diseases and evolving techniques in transanal minimally invasive surgery for sphincter preservation and surgery for inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. He is currently serving as the Governor at Large for the Executive Committee for the FL Society ACS.
