Welcome

Welcome to the 2024 Nicholas Dellamonico Trauma Conference, presented by Central Florida’s only Level I Trauma Center. We are thrilled to have you join us for this prestigious event, where leading experts in trauma care will share their knowledge and experiences. This year’s conference promises to be an enriching experience, featuring a diverse range of topics, cutting-edge research, and innovative approaches to trauma practices.

The conference is named in honor of Nicholas Dellamonico, who worked for Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) for 35 years and deeply enjoyed his work helping people in the Burn Trauma ICU. As Dr. Matthew Lube said, “He loved working in the trauma ICU – he loved teaching the younger nurses. He has been such a mentor to so many and was respected and loved by his co-workers, nursing students, respiratory therapists, clergy, residents, and physician staff – everyone.”

His dedication and passion for trauma care have left a lasting legacy, inspiring countless healthcare professionals.

Our goal is to foster collaboration and learning among healthcare professionals dedicated to improving adult and pediatric trauma care. Throughout the conference, you’ll have the opportunity to network with colleagues, participate through interactive sessions, and gain valuable insights from renowned speakers.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all attendees, speakers, and sponsors for making this event possible. Together, let’s elevate trauma care through innovative practices.

About

Orlando Health ORMC and Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children are the only Level I Trauma Centers in the Central Florida region, providing treatment for adult and pediatric patients with the most critical types of injuries. Additionally, Orlando Health ORMC is home to the Warden Burn Center. We continually achieve Level I Trauma Center designation by the State of Florida, and verification from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and American Burn Association (ABA). A review team consisting of nationally recognized experts in trauma and burn care perform an in-depth, on-site assessment of every aspect of the trauma and burn programs. Orlando Health ORMC and Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Level I Trauma Centers are recognized for their dedication to providing optimal care for adults and children, as well as demonstrated commitment to education, research and community outreach.

Being a Level I Trauma Center means we provide the highest level of comprehensive care for critically injured patients and are prepared to respond 24/7/365 to any type of traumatic injury. This requires that we have in-house trauma critical care surgeons, designated operating rooms, available CT and MRI scanners, trauma-certified nursing staff, surgical critical care, 24/7 blood bank operation, and immediately available subspecialists like neurosurgeons and orthopedic trauma surgeons. The center also must take part in trauma injury prevention programs, have a quality outcomes program, provide trauma education, participate in trauma research and have a monitoring system to allow for the highest quality of trauma care. This unique immediate availability of specialty-trained professionals at Level I Trauma Centers has been linked to increased patient survival and functional outcomes. Our extensive resources allow us to provide world-class care for all aspects of injury, from prevention to rehabilitation.
