Joint Replacement Center

Joint Replacement Program

Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Hip and Knee Replacement. Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital completed a rigorous onsite review by The Joint Commission where experts evaluated compliance with advanced disease-specific care standards and total hip and total knee replacement requirements, including orthopedic consultation, and preoperative, intraoperative and post-surgical orthopedic surgeon follow-up care. Achieving the certification recognizes Orlando Health – Health Central’s commitment to provide care in a safe and efficient manner.

Our team of board certified orthopedic surgeons, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and clinical techs are committed to providing the best care possible to help patients undergoing knee or hip replacement regain their independence and quality of life.

Patients will receive inpatient care on a dedicated orthopedic unit with Orthopedic Certified Nurses and an exclusive rehabilitation team. We focus on compassionate and individualized care for every patient. Onsite inpatient rehab gym, private rooms, free WiFi and a quiet friendly atmosphere are just a few of the amenities provided.

A Multidisciplinary Approach

A team composed of healthcare professionals such as surgeons, hospitalists, anesthesiologists, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and case managers provide up-to-date, evidence-based care to our patients. Our goal is to deliver the best care and improve patient outcomes based on national standards.

Individualized Plan of Care

Our Joint Replacement Center was designed with the patient in mind. Our multidisciplinary team will ensure that all your medical needs are covered during your hospital stay. We believe you play an integral part in your recovery.

Preparing for Joint Replacement Surgery

We offer a live, interactive pre-op class that will familiarize you and your "coach" (a loved one that will help you through your recovery) with the expectations of joint replacement surgery. The class covers topics such as how to prepare for surgery, what to bring to the hospital, needs for recovery, rehabilitation, hospital stay and discharge process.

Joint Replacement Surgery Education

Research has shown patients gain greater confidence in the procedure awaiting them if they know what to expect. Health Central Hospital’s Rehab Center part of the Orthopedic and Spine Center understands what the patient will feel before, during and after joint replacement surgery. It has designed a pre-op education class for patients and their families in a comfortable classroom setting. Therapists and nursing professionals provide easy-to-understand clinical information and answer many questions that may arise before surgery.

Our physicians provide each patient an informational binder 4 to 6 weeks prior to surgery. Each binder covers a variety of topics from the surgery itself to the recovery period; from physical therapy to follow-up care at home. Safety tips are included to help the family provide a safe and more comfortable environment in the home during rehabilitation. Additionally, phone numbers are provided in the binders with local rehabilitation centers and insurance case managers’ information. After the course, patients wishing to view the surgery and rehab centers can take a personalized tour of the facility. Clinical data has shown that programs such as these result in quicker recovery and rehabilitation times, as well as shorter hospital stays with less pain medications required.

For further information on the pre-op education class at Health Central Hospital, contact Pat Tipton Bray, PT, CSCS, Director of Rehabilitation Services, at 407-296-1901.
