Orlando, FL (January 24, 2019) – Orlando Health has announced plans for two new additions to its downtown Orlando campus. This week, plans for a new building located at 1800 S. Orange Avenue were submitted to City of Orlando’s planning division to begin the review and approval process. The one-story, 6,800 square foot facility will become home to a new Orlando Health Imaging Center. The new site will include state-of-the-art MRI, Open MRI, Radiology, CT Scan, Interventional Radiology and Mammography.

Today, the organization closed on the purchase of an additional 8.36 acres in the development, which is also home to an Orlando Health free-standing Emergency Room and Medical Pavilion – currently under construction – and a hospital, for which Orlando Health recently was granted a certificate of need by Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration.

ORLANDO Fla., Jan. 29, 2019 – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently recognized Alix Casler, M.D., chief of pediatrics at Orlando Health Physician Associates (OHPA) and medical director of Orlando Health’s department of population health and value based care, for her leadership role in a quality improvement project to increase HPV vaccination rates at OHPA offices throughout Central Florida.  

Orlando, FL (January 25, 2019) – Orlando Health earned an Overall 3 Star Rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons for providing excellent care to patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) and aortic valve replacement with coronary artery bypass surgery (AVR+CABG). The current rating is the eighth consecutive 3 Star Rating for CABG, and the fifth consecutive 3 Star Rating for AVR+CABG.

Orlando, FL (August 15, 2019) – Orlando Health has teamed up with the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) to develop a more efficient and accurate way to collect mandated health data from newborn babies. Before leaving the hospital, five drops of blood are collected from babies and sent to FDOH to screen for 54 medical disorders, including cystic fibrosis and sickle cell anemia. It is crucial that the blood samples are sent and read quickly so that physicians and parents can move forward with additional testing or treatment. If not treated in a timely manner, some of these abnormalities can be life-threatening.
