COVID-19 Vaccination
ACIP recommends use of COVID-19 vaccines for everyone ages 12 and older within the scope of the Emergency Use Authorization for the particular vaccine. COVID-19 vaccine and other vaccines may be administered on the same day. See the COVID-19 Vaccine Information page for additional information about COVID-19 vaccines.
When it comes to your checkups, there are many myths keeping people from visiting their primary care physician (PCP). But the fact is, you deserve to be certain about your health. Here are common reasons why people skip their annual checkups, and why you shouldn’t.
I FEEL FINE; THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH ME.
With many conditions, like high cholesterol, high blood pressure or diabetes, you may not feel any significant symptoms early on. But these “silent” medical problems can lead to serious health consequences if not detected early. Routine screenings, including for breast, prostate and colon cancer, can improve chances of detecting cancer early on, when it’s most treatable.
I’M YOUNG; I DON’T NEED ANNUAL EXAMS YET.
Genetic predispositions, unhealthy lifestyle habits and obesity can lead to serious health problems at any age. By starting young with your annual physical exams, you can start building a trusting relationship with your primary care physician, who can help you manage any potential health problems down the road.
I’M BUSY; I DON’T HAVE TIME TO SEE MY DOCTOR.
Not finding the time for an annual preventive exam, or to monitor existing conditions, could lead to spending even more time, and money, for advanced treatment down the road. It’s also usually easier to get an appointment as an established patient. You don’t want to wait until you really need a doctor to have to Find a Doctor.
