Program at a Glance

Orlando Health’s Adult Critical Care APP fellowship is a 12-month program, based in our Level One Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center with rotations in all areas of critical care including CVICU, surgical/trauma, medical, and neuroscience ICUs. The goal of the program is to produce highly skilled and competent Critical Care providers who can function in any ICU environment. There will be opportunities to participate in research activities and learn side by side with the residents and physician fellows.

Clinical Experience

• Wide variety of complex patient cases at a Level One Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center

• Clinical experiences in multiple subspecialities across many of the Orlando Health campuses

• Inter-personal learning with a team based approach

• Case presentations

• Average of 45-50 clinical hours weekly (90-100 hours biweekly)

Rotations (4 weeks each)

• Boot Camp

• Medical ICU (4 weeks each) at Orlando Health including Orlando Regional Medical Center and community sites

• Neuroscience ICU

• CVICU

• Surgical/trauma ICU

Subspeciality Rotations (1 week each)

• Neurosurgery / Neurology

• Pharmacy / Rapid Response

• Cardiology

• ID / Nephrology

• Elective

Didactic Education

• In-person lectures monthly from experts

• Online learning modules

• End of rotation quizzes

• High yield case study simulation labs twice monthly

• Simulations with multiple procedures including:

  • Central lines

  • Intubations

  • Arterial lines

  • Paracentesis

  • Thoracentesis

  • Pericardiocentesis

  • Chest tube

  • Lumbar puncture
