Volunteer Services

To Interested Volunteers:

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital. Volunteers are an important part of our organization.

On these web pages you will find the information needed to begin the process of becoming a volunteer. Please print and complete the application packet in its entirety. Be sure to include three references (name, address, phone number and relationship). Try to list at least one business/professional reference. Remember that family members cannot be used as a reference.

You will need to print, review and sign the consent form to test for tuberculosis and drug screening. These screenings will be done at no charge to you. Please be aware that we do not accept applications for those individuals attempting to complete court-ordered community service hours.

Once you have completed the application, please return all of the necessary papers to:

Dr. P. Phillips Hospital Volunteer Services
9400 Turkey Lake Road
Orlando, FL 32819

We will notify you upon receipt of your application. When the reference checks are complete, we will call you to set up an appointment for an interview. Volunteers are also required to attend an orientation session, which will be scheduled after your interview.

If you have any questions about filling out the application, please call us at 321.842.7416. Our volunteers are a vital part of the caring spirit that thrives in our community.

How Can I Become Involved?

Hospitals continue to remain under increasing pressure to keep up with the health needs of our expanding community due to:

  • Inadequate reimbursements
  • Extraordinary expenses
    • Disaster readiness
    • Cost of supplies
    • Workforce shortages
    • Regulations
    • Uninsured
    • Medical Liability

Orlando Health will continue to keep the promise of being here, but we need your help. Here's how you can get involved:

Philanthropy

  • Donate to your local hospital - philanthropy is becoming increasingly more important to healthcare as our financial resources are strained.

Volunteer

  • Become a volunteer at your local hospital.
  • Donate blood often and encourage others to do likewise.

Advocacy

  • Become an advocate for better healthcare - join our Orlando Health Advocacy Network and help us communicate the importance of various issues to our elected officials.
  • Encourage your employees to use the appropriate level of care - educate them as to when to use emergency care and when to use urgent or walk-in centers.
  • Manage the health of your own employee populations. Conduct health risk appraisals and offer educational incentives for staying healthy.
