Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital welcomes new urologist

St. Cloud, FL (April 15, 2021) – David A. Melendez, M.D., has recently joined Orlando Health Medical Group Urology and is based at Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital in Osceola County, Florida.

Dr. Melendez has experience in robotic and laparoscopic surgery including management of prostate and kidney cancers. He also has extensive experience in the management of stone disease, benign prostatic hyperplasia, erectile dysfunction, incontinence and other general urologic issues.

After attending medical school at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico, Dr. Melendez received an internship at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He then completed general surgery residencies at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and New York Medical College’s Westchester Medical Center. He finished his postdoctoral training with a urology residency at St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.

Early in his residency, Dr. Melendez developed a strong interest in sexual medicine and men’s health. Following his residency, he continued a clinical fellowship in Men’s Health and Urological Prosthetics at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York. The fellowship included extensive surgical training in a minimally invasive solution for erectile dysfunction.

Dr. Melendez is a member of several professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons, American Urological Association, Sexual Medicine Society of North America, and Endourological Society. He is a member of the United States Air Force Reserve and fluent in both English and Spanish.
