Program Information

With over 40 years of experience, the Internal Medicine Department at Orlando Health has been training gifted internists for general primary care, hospital medicine, and future subspecialty training. The department offers a three-year ACGME-accredited residency-training program designed to provide the necessary experience for board certification, and a successful practice in internal medicine, and/or future subspecialty/fellowship training.

We offer 13 categorical and 2 preliminary PGY-1 positions each year. The full-time faculty is composed of academic internists dedicated to resident education and mentoring.

As a not-for-profit, tertiary care teaching facility, and the only Level I Trauma Center in Central Florida, Orlando Health services a diverse patient population and functions as a referral center for surrounding communities. We see and treat a variety of conditions including underserved populations to vacationers from around the country/world enjoying the amazing perks of living in Orlando. Training is conducted in state-of-the-art facilities equipped with the latest technology and 24-hour ancillary services. All of this providing a well-rounded, unmatched, educational experience compared to other programs.

Our program has a formal affiliation with:

Our affiliations allow for clinical researchers and subspecialists from outside institutions to lecture and participate in our residency program. In addition to this, medical students from these universities rotate at our institution during their third and fourth years. This exchange enhances the exposure and educational opportunities for our house staff and fosters an environment of continued medical education.

Our residents are highly sought after for their clinical expertise and receive competitive job offers and fellowships upon completion of the program.
