As part of a Level 1 Trauma Center — providing the highest level of comprehensive care for the most severe, life-threatening injuries — our trauma surgeons and physicians are passionate about participating in and leading research in the trauma field. Trauma research not only studies how the body responds to extreme stress and injury but also focuses on developing effective treatment strategies for these critical patients. Adel Elkbuli, MD, MPH, MBA

Dr. Adel Elkbuli is currently serving as academic program director and clinical research director for the trauma department at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center. He is passionate about trauma surgery, with particular interest in trauma systems, quality of care metrics, performance improvement, health outcomes and services research, injury prevention, surgical critical care, evidence-based guided practice management guidelines, and surgical education.

Dr. Elkbuli received his medical degree from the University of Tripoli Faculty of Medicine in Libya, graduating among the top 10 in his class. He then earned a master’s degree in public health from the University of Miami, where he was inducted into the Beta Sigma Chapter of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health. He also earned an MBA with a concentration in healthcare management from Colorado Technical University (CTU) and was inducted into the Pi Gamma Chapter of the Delta Mu Delta (DMD) International Honor Society in Business and the National Society of Leadership and Success Honor Society, CTU Chapter.

Dr. Elkbuli has led and co-authored over 400 peer-reviewed publications. He has actively participated in several national trauma organization committees focusing on research, injury prevention and critical care, including as part of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma and Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, among others. Dr. Elkuli was recently included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists, an annual list published by Stanford University that recognizes and honors the most distinguished scientists worldwide.
