Program Directors' Welcome

Jerome Gene Chen

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your interest in the University of Florida Pediatric Residency Program at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital and the University of Florida, through a special partnership, are pleased to offer a unique pediatric residency training opportunity rich in education and patient care. The program is built upon the strengths of Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital, consistently recognized in US News & World Report as a Best Children’s Hospital and leader in pediatric care in Central Florida, and the University of Florida Department Of Pediatrics, one of the top programs in the United States for medical education.

Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital is a free-standing, tertiary care, teaching hospital located in Orlando’s vibrant downtown. The hospital includes a pediatric emergency department, multiple inpatient floors, PICU, CVICU, subspecialty wards and clinics, and the region’s only pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center. Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, located across the street, houses the NICU and Nursery. The Orlando Health Primary Care Pediatrics Clinic houses the resident Continuity Clinic and Acute Clinic and is a short walk away.

Our pediatric residency has been ACGME-accredited for over 40 years and has a longstanding tradition of excellence in Central Florida. Our dedicated and supportive faculty, exceptional patient diversity, and collegial educational environment form the basis of our pediatric residency. The program maintains a strong focus on primary care, while providing exposure to pediatric specialties and medically complex children. Whether your long-term interests lie in primary care, academic medicine, or subspecialty medicine, you will develop a strong foundation for your future. Our graduates have gone on to wonderful careers. We are sure that you will too!
