Arnold Palmer Hospital Volunteer Adult Service Areas

Art Cart – Provide activities such as coloring, card games, and crafts to patients who are waiting in the Radiology and ED waiting rooms. Shifts available Sunday through Saturday.

Central Supply – Assist staff in unpacking shipments, stocking shelves, and delivering supplies. Shifts available weekdays.

Clerical and Staff Support – Assist in a variety of departments with answering phones, data entry, filing and other clerical duties. Shifts are available weekdays.

Food and Nutrition – Assist in the kitchen/cafeteria by restocking silverware, wiping tables, filling salt/pepper shakers, stocking beverage coolers and various other kitchen duties. Shifts available Sunday through Saturday.

Guest Services/Information Desk – Assist the Guest Services staff with greeting and escorting patients, families and guests, and answering phones. Shifts available Sunday through Saturday.

Outpatient Rehab – Assist the staff in day to day processes, disinfect exercise equipment, greet patients in waiting room, assist at reception desk. Shifts available weekdays.

Outpatient Pediatric Specialty Practices and Clinics – Volunteers provide clerical support to staff, as well as read and provide activities to the waiting pediatric patients and siblings. Shifts available weekdays.

Howard Phillips Center – Volunteers provide clerical assistance and assist patients and families in waiting rooms at one of the service areas for the center. These include the Healing Tree, Teen Xpress and Hug Me. Shifts available weekdays.

Patient Business/Admitting – Escort patients to their service areas and provide clerical support to staff. Shifts available weekdays.

Patient Pal and Playrooms – After completing 40 hours of service, volunteers are eligible to apply to become a Patient Pal or Playroom volunteer. These volunteers work closely with the Child Life Specialists in providing activities to the pediatric patients both in the playrooms and in the patient rooms. These volunteers receive one-on-one training with a Child Life Specialist and attend a special educational class.

Pediatric Nursing Units – Support nursing staff by performing non-clinical duties, stocking rooms, answering call lights, filling water pitchers. Shifts available Sunday through Saturday.

Pet Therapy – Individuals with dogs who have received approved training and evaluation are eligible to become part of the pet therapy team. Because we can only accept a limited number of pet therapy dogs, please contact the Child Life Office at 321-841-1479 before making application as a volunteer.
