  • IRB No: 10.092.08

    Protocol Abbrev: IBV - HUD

Principal Investigator: Mark Arthur Vollenweider, MD

    Phase: Device: Significant Risk

    Age Group: Adult

Secondary Protocol No: HDE H060002 HUD

Treatment: Placement of Spiration Valves into the airways of the lung using a bronchoscope (a flexible tube with a video camera for examination of the air passages of the lungs) placed through the mouth or nose

    Therapies Involved: Procedural

  • Objective

To use the Spiration Valve System to control prolonged air leaks of the lung, or air leaks that are likely to become prolonged air leaks

  • Key Eligibility

Prolonged air leak(s) in the lung(s) following lung surgery (e.g., lobectomy, segmentectomy or lung volume reduction surgery). Air leaks after lung surgery are expected, but if they are still present after 5-7 days, they are considered prolonged (relatively long, or drawn-out).
