Pranav Patel, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist with the Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with diseases affecting the stomach, intestines and other digestive organs.
Diagnosis and Treatment of Gastrointestinal Disorders
Given its complexity, the gastrointestinal tract requires an experienced gastroenterologist like Dr. Patel to provide diagnosis and treatment based on diverse symptoms, advanced testing and minimally invasive surgery. Common and chronic disorders include gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, colorectal cancer, and diseases of the pancreas and liver to name a few.
Depending on a patient's symptoms and needs, Dr. Patel may use one or more of the following procedures to provide the most accurate diagnosis and effective treatment:

- Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)

- Nasojejunal (feeding tube) placement
- PEG tube placement
- pH monitoring (reflux testing system)
- Push enteroscopy
Dr. Patel’s Training
Dr. Patel has extensive medical education and training. He earned his medical degree from B. J. Medical College and completed postdoctoral training in general surgery at Sheth K. E. M. Institute of Post Graduate and Research, both located at Gujarat University in Ahmedabad, India. This was followed by a fellowship in adult cardiac surgery at Yale New Haven Hospital, Yale University in Connecticut and a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at East Tennessee State University, Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City.
About Dr. Patel
Dr. Patel is certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in gastroenterology by the American Board of Medical Specialty. He also is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and retains the status of life member of the Medical Council of India and Gujarat Medical Council.
His work has appeared in more than 60 peer-reviewed journals, and he is a peer reviewer for the American College of Gastroenterology Case Report Journal and Nature Reviews Gastroenterology & Hepatology. Additionally, Dr. Patel is fluent in English, Gujarati and Hindi.
