Tara Wolfinger is a genetic counselor with the Cancer Genetics and High Risk Care Center at Orlando Health Cancer Institute. She helps patients determine whether the cancer in their family is hereditary and estimates their risk of developing cancer in the future by analyzing personal and family history information and interpreting genetic testing results. This information can then be used by patients and providers to make decisions about cancer screening and medical management.

She has worked as a genetic counseling assistant at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Division of Pediatric Genetics, where her duties included obtaining family histories, coordinating blood draws and arranging follow-up care.

Tara earned a bachelor’s degree in family and child sciences from Florida State University in Tallahassee. She received her Master of Science in public health (MSPH) with a concentration in genetic counseling from the University of South Florida in Tampa.

She is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors and Florida Association of Genetic Counselors. Tara also volunteered as an online operator with a suicide intervention network.
