Bio
Tara Wolfinger is a certified genetic counselor (CGC) with the Cancer Genetics and High Risk Care Center at the Orlando Health Cancer Institute. She helps determine whether a patient’s cancer is hereditary and estimates the risk of developing cancer in the future. Her areas of expertise include:
- Providing genetic counseling for pediatric and adult patients
- Coordinating and ordering genetic testing and explaining the results
- Providing patients with genetic testing options tailored to their personal and family history of cancer
- Analyzing personal and family histories in order to provide cancer risk assessments
Tara strives to help patients better understand their cancer risks while ensuring that they feel supported and empowered.
Tara’s Training
Tara earned a bachelor’s degree in family and child sciences at Florida State University in Tallahassee. She received a Master of Science in public health (MSPH) with a concentration in genetic counseling from the University of South Florida in Tampa.
About Tara
Tara’s professional memberships include the National Society of Genetic Counselors and Florida Association of Genetic Counselors.
Tara previously worked as a genetic counseling assistant at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. She also volunteered as an online operator with a suicide intervention network.
Outside of work, Tara enjoys spending time at the beach and with her Shih-Tzu Archy.

Why do some Orlando Health physicians not have a patient experience rating?
The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions, shown above, from our nationally-recognized Press-Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
