  • Colonoscopy Information

    Colonoscopy is a test that allows your doctor to look directly into the colon (large intestine) with a long flexible tube containing a camera. During the procedure, the doctor may take tiny samples of tissue called biopsies. The biopsies often help your doctor determine the cause of your child's symptoms. Some common reasons why children may need a colonoscopy include: Blood in the bowel movements, diarrhea, abdominal pain, rectal pain, or weight loss.

  • Upper Endoscopy Information

    An upper endoscopy is a test that allows your child's doctor to look directly into the upper gastrointestinal tract which includes the esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine called the duodenum.

  • Esophageal pH Monitoring Information

    Outpatient esophageal pH monitoring can be a useful tool in diagnosing gastroesophageal reflux disease, especially atypical manifestations.

  • Flexible Sigmoidoscopy Information

    A sigmoidoscopy is a shorter version of a colonoscopy which allows the doctor to look inside the rectum and sigmoid. The doctor may take tissue samples (biopsy), and check for tissue growths (polyps) or bleeding.

  • Lactose Breath Test Information

    The Lactose Breath Test is a 4 hour test which checks for lactose intolerance. This test does not exclude milk protein allergy.

  • Video Capsule Endoscopy Information

    Your doctor may determine that a capsule endoscopy of the small intestine (also known as the small bowel) is necessary for further evaluation of your GI condition. The Video Capsule that you swallow takes pictures of your small intestine, the organ located between your stomach and large intestine. For this procedure, your doctor will have you ingest the capsule that is about the size of a multi- vitamin, which contains its own camera and light source.
