Orlando Health Surgeons Use 3d-Printed Fetus Models To Prepare For In-Utero Procedure
(ORLANDO, Florida) – A state-of-the-art in-utero procedure allows surgeons to correct a birth defect on developing babies inside the womb. But operating on a mother and her unborn child at the same time can be challenging and unpredictable. To give their world-class surgeons even more information ahead of surgery, Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies is using MRI and ultrasound imaging along with 3D-printing technology to create a first-of-its-kind detailed model that allows surgeons to plan procedures ahead of time, identifying potential obstacles and reducing the risks of surgery.

Surgeon J. Ryan Williams, MD to Lead Colorectal Surgery Practice at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg, FL – (October 22, 2021) – Bayfront Health St. Petersburg announced J. Ryan Williams, MD, will serve as director for Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Medical Group’s new Colorectal Surgery Department. This new service line will work with patients seeking support with colon and rectal related issues. Prior to this new role, Dr. Williams served as the vice chief of surgery for Bayfront Health St. Petersburg since 2020.

Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Partners with St. Petersburg College, Expanding Preferred Education Program
St. Petersburg, FL – (November 10, 2021) – Bayfront Health St. Petersburg is proud to announce a new education partnership that will support team members. Orlando Health, parent organization of Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, has expanded its Preferred Education Program to now include St. Petersburg College. Through this program, Bayfront Health St. Petersburg team members will be able to pursue an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or certificate at St. Petersburg College for free. The Preferred Education Program is available to employees, both part-time and full-time, system-wide, and is administered by Bright Horizons EdAssist Solutions.

Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Joins With City to Fight Skin Cancer
St. Petersburg, FL – (August 26, 2021) – Today St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman, Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Chief Financial Officer LaTasha Barnes and Andy Gardiner, sr. vice president, external affairs for Orlando Health announced a new initiative to help protect visitors to the St. Pete Pier from the dangerous effects of too much sun. The officials unveiled the first free permanent sunscreen dispensers, sponsored by Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. The sunscreen dispensers are located at four points on the St. Pete Pier – on the fishing deck, near the restrooms adjacent to the Discovery Center, across from the Spa Beach Bistro and near the stairs leading to Spa Beach, which is where the unveiling occurred.

Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center introduces new technology that breaks barriers in coronary artery disease
Orlando, Fla. (August 31, 2021) – Cardiologists at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center are breaking through heart disease with new technology. The doctors are the first in Central Florida to offer shockwave technology to break up severely calcified plaque in heart arteries. The new technology for severely calcified coronary artery disease uses sonic pressure waves to break away problematic calcium so heart arteries can be safely expanded, and blood flow restored. The treatment is also a new way to use lithotripsy - an approach that has been used for decades for kidney stones. The Food and Drug Administration recently approved the technology to treat coronary arteries.
