  • José Prieto, MD, FACOG

    Dr. Prieto is the Assistant Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine with the Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. His areas of interest include ultrasound and prenatal diagnosis. Dr. Prieto is the current coordinator for resident research. Fluent in Spanish and English.

  • James LaPolla, MD, FACOG

    Dr. LaPolla received his degree in medicine from the University of Illinois. After completing a residency in Internal Medicine, Dr. LaPolla completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Los Angeles County, USC Medical Center where he subsequently completed a fellowship in Gynecological Oncology.

  • Katherine Apostolakis-Kyrus, MD, FACOG

    Dr. Apostolakis-Kyrus specializes in maternal-fetal medicine in the Johns Hopkins All Children's Maternal, Fetal & Neonatal Institute. She is also on the faculty at the Bayfront Health Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program.

  • Mark Sanchez, MD, FACOG

    Dr. Sanchez graduated from the University of South Florida in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He subsequently attended the University of Florida College Of Medicine and graduated in 1995 with a Doctorate in Medicine. From 1995 to 1999 Dr. Sanchez performed his Internship and Residency at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he received several honors and awards including outstanding laparoscopic surgeon. Following his residency, Dr. Sanchez completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of South Florida where he presently serves as a Collaborative Associate Professor.

  • Karen Raimer, MD, FACOG

    Dr. Raimer is a key member of our maternal-fetal medicine team, providing care for many expectant mothers whose infants may require care in our NICU or CVICU as well as surgery after delivery. She completed her fellowship at University of Miami in 1991. Dr. Raimer is a graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Medicine, New Orleans. She completed a residency in obstetrics/gynecology at the Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, where she served as chief resident. Following a fellowship in perinatology at the University of Miami, in 1991 Dr. Raimer joined Maternal Fetal Medicine Associates in St. Petersburg, FL and is the Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center director for Maternal Fetal Medicine at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. Dr. Raimer serves as an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

  • Carlos R. Rodriguez, MD, FAAFP

    Board certified in sports medicine and family medicine, Carlos R. Rodriguez, MD is Bayfront Health St. Petersburg’s Sports Medicine Fellowship director and the assistant director to the Family Medicine Residency Program. Since 2011, he has been responsible for developing, overseeing and enhancing both programs.
