David Strong joins Florida Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

Orlando Health President & CEO, David Strong, has become the newest member of the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors. Mr. Strong’s Board membership was effective November 5.

Orlando, FL  (November 9, 2015) – Orlando Health President & CEO, David Strong, has become the newest member of the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors. Mr. Strong’s Board membership was effective November 5.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome David to the Florida Chamber Board of Directors,” said Steve Knopik, Immediate Past Chair of the Florida Chamber Board and CEO of Beall’s Inc.  “His business expertise, particularly in the health care industry, will be a tremendous asset to the Chamber as we work to secure Florida’s future.”

Mr. Strong was appointed Orlando Health’s president and chief executive officer in April, 2015. He is responsible for providing leadership, strategic guidance and direction of the organization which consists of eight wholly-owned or affiliated hospitals, two of the largest multi-specialty practices in Central Florida; ownership in an outpatient surgery center, and a subsidiary interest in five outpatient imaging centers. Mr. Strong has more than 20 years of healthcare management expertise and experience. Prior to joining Orlando Health, he served as president of Rex Healthcare, in Raleigh, NC, an affiliate of UNC Health Care, and chief operating officer for system affiliations at the University of North Carolina Health Care System in Chapel Hill.

He began his healthcare career at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA, where he served as vice president of operations and ambulatory care as well as executive vice president. In 2000 he joined Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City, OK as chief operating officer. In 2004, he joined Rex Healthcare and in 2011, was named chief operating officer for system affiliations at the health care system.  

Mr. Strong received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, OK and a Master of Hospital and Health Administration degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH.

He and his wife, Grace, are the proud parents of four children.
