Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital earns Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Recertification by Joint Commission

Hospital first and only in Central Florida to earn designation

Orlando, FL (July 30, 2025) Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital maintains its distinction as the first and only hospital in Central Florida to earn the Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification from the Joint Commission, the nation’s leading accrediting body in health care.

The hospital first earned the designation in 2019. To earn recertification, the hospital underwent a thorough onsite review earlier this year. Joint Commission experts evaluated the orthopedic team’s approach to providing high-quality care from a patient’s initial consultation through surgery, rehabilitation and long-term follow-up.

“We are proud that our orthopedic program achieved this milestone, which sets a standard for joint replacement care in the region,” said Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute surgeon Jaime Carvajal, MD, a participating physician in the Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital program. “Our goal is to help patients regain mobility, reduce pain and return to the activities they enjoy after a smooth recovery. This certification recognizes our role as a trusted health care provider in our community and highlights the dedication of our team members to improve the lives of every patient we serve.”
