Orlando Health announces new name for freestanding rehabilitation institute

Program previously operated as Orlando Health ORMC Institute for Advanced Rehabilitation

Orlando, FL (February 10, 2023) – Orlando Health is proud to announce that its new, freestanding rehabilitation facility will be named the Orlando Health Advanced Rehabilitation Institute. This comes as inpatient post-acute care services move from inside Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) to a newly renovated site on the campus of Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital in Ocoee.

The 53-bed Orlando Health Advanced Rehabilitation Institute will specialize in care for patients with complex neurological and musculoskeletal conditions including spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, amputation and major multiple trauma.

“We wanted the new name to reflect the comprehensive range of care we will be providing to our patients,” said Annette Seabrook, president, Orlando Health Advanced Rehabilitation Institute. “In this new facility, we’ll have private patient rooms and dedicated therapy spaces with the latest rehabilitation equipment, including robotics and a simulated apartment for activities of daily living.”

The rehabilitation program, recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, will be the first freestanding comprehensive medical rehabilitation facility in Orange County, Florida. It’s set to open in the summer of 2023.

Orlando Health is changing the name of several specialty service line outpatient locations to reflect the commitment to excellence in rehabilitation along the continuum of care. These facilities provide care to individuals following discharge from the inpatient rehabilitation facility for neurologic diagnoses, as well as other complex rehabilitation areas of oncology, lymphedema, and pelvic health. The following Orlando locations will become the Orlando Health Advanced Rehabilitation Institute – Outpatient Center:

  • 1222 S. Orange Ave. (Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute building)
  • 100 W. Gore St.
  • 32 W. Gore St.
  • 125 Copeland (Orlando Health Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Institute offices)
