Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute’s two cardiology groups merge to form one of the state’s largest cardiovascular practices
The new, combined practice means improved medical care and greater benefits for patients.
ORLANDO, Fla. (April 1, 2016) --- Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute’s two cardiology groups have joined to form one of the largest cardiovascular practices in Florida. Mid-Florida Cardiology Specialists and Orlando Heart Center will begin the merger process on April 1, 2016. Named the Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute, the new combined practice consists of 42 physicians, 280 team members and 13 locations throughout Central Florida. For patients and their families, the new practice means diverse expertise, vast experience, greater efficiency and added conveniences.
“Orlando Health’s longstanding relationship with Mid-Florida Cardiology Specialists and Orlando Heart Center has allowed us to provide excellent cardiac care to the community,” said Cindy Reed, chief operating officer, Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute. “Together with the practices we have shared many firsts in medical treatments and advanced uses of technology, research studies to advance future cardiac care, and unique clinical programs and community initiatives to help in the fight against the nation’s leading killer for women and men. The merger brings the practices together in a new way to strengthen care delivery.”
Together, the practices have served the community for more than 80 years.

Patients will see many benefits from the merger, including enhanced access to quality cardiac care with additional office locations, efficient physician manpower allocation, and improved program development.

Physicians and staff will benefit from more efficient use of resources to provide the highest quality of care for patients with better geographic coverage to serve them.
Operational efforts are in place to ensure patients will experience a seamless transition. Patients can continue to see their cardiologists at the existing office locations. Any future changes, such as telephone numbers and other processes will occur overtime. At this time patients can use the same office numbers to make appointments, to ask questions, or for any other information regarding the Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute.
