Orlando Health Joins Medical Platoon for Preparedness Training

On Saturday, May 20, Orlando Health joined a Florida Army National Guard medical platoon for special training exercises to prepare for the unexpected.

The exercise, part of the National Guard's Defense Support of Civil Authorities training, is designed to enhance readiness between military and civilian medical emergency care providers during a natural disaster, a terrorist act, or other unexpected catastrophic community incidents.

Training included mock patient transports via Humvees to Orlando Regional Medical Center’s Level One Trauma Center, and mock patient transports via Humvees to the Orlando Health Air Care Team at a mock scene at Boone High School.

The medical platoon, part of the Orlando-based 2nd Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment, also trained with the City of Orlando Fire Department and Orange County Fire Rescue.
