Orlando Health Physician Associates Acquires Pediatric Associates of Orlando

One of the first pediatric practices in Central Florida has been acquired by Orlando Health Physician Associates.

ORLANDO, Fla. (Sept. 1, 2015) — Orlando Health Physician Associates, one of the largest multi-specialty healthcare groups in Central Florida, has acquired Pediatric Associates of Orlando. Founded in 1939, it was one of the first pediatric practices in Central Florida. The acquisition is effective Sept. 1, 2015.

“We are thrilled to welcome Pediatric Associates of Orlando to the Orlando Health family,” said Cynthia Powell, MD, president of Orlando Health Physicians. “By working together, we will move forward on collaboration efforts on several initiatives to enhance care for our pediatric patients here in Central Florida.”

“At Pediatric Associates we have dedicated our careers to providing the best care for our families,” said Gregory Gordon, MD, Pediatric Associates of Orlando. “By partnering with Orlando Health, we know that we are taking a very important step to ensure that we meet the needs of our growing practices for years to come.”

For patients of Pediatric Associates, there will be no detectible changes. Patients’ doctors, offices, benefits, co-pays, or other out-of-pocket expenses will remain the same. Pediatric Associates physicians will continue to see patients in their Orlando location at 414 North Mills Ave. and at their Ocoee/Windermere offices at 2920 Maguire Rd. in Ocoee.

Pediatric Associates, comprised of 10 board certified pediatricians, becomes the second healthcare group to be acquired by Orlando Health in the past three years. Physician Associates was acquired by Orlando Health in January of 2013.

“Since becoming a part of the Orlando Health system two years ago, we have achieved tremendous success and continued growth,” said Dennis Buhring, president of the Orlando Health Physician Associates. “In 2014, we received recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a Level-3 Patient Centered Medical Home. And this spring, we opened our new offices in Lake Nona. In this changing healthcare landscape, it is imperative that healthcare systems work together and bring services right into the communities we serve. We are looking forward to continued success with this dedicated team from Pediatric Associates.”

Pediatric Associates will continue to operate as a for-profit entity much as it does today in collaboration with Orlando Health.
