Orlando Health Announces New Emergency Room and Medical Pavilion to Be Built in the City of Lake Mary

Lake Mary, FL (May 18, 2017) – The City of Lake Mary and Orlando Health announced today plans to bring a new emergency room and medical pavilion to the community. The $42 million, 30-acre project will be part of a medical complex located in the city of Lake Mary on the northwest corner of Manderley Run and Rinehart Road.

“We are excited to partner with Orlando Health’s new development,” said Lake Mary Mayor David Mealor. “The project offers many benefits to the city, bringing with it more jobs, both during construction and after it opens. Orlando Health’s medical complex will give our community easier access to exceptional healthcare. It is an organization that has proven its commitment to the community for nearly 100 years.”

Phase one of the project will include a four-story 90,000 square foot emergency room and medical pavilion, featuring  a freestanding emergency room on the first floor that is provided as a service of Orlando Health’s South Seminole Hospital. The free-standing emergency room will include up to 24 exam rooms, an imaging department, ambulance bays and a helipad.

“The Orlando Health emergency room and medical pavilion will be designed to meet both current and future needs of this growing community,” said Karen Frenier, President, South Seminole Hospital. “Our future vision for the healthcare site includes an acute care hospital, additional medical offices, a potential ambulatory surgery center and other health and wellness concepts.”

Orlando Health’s investment in Lake Mary is located within the larger New Century Development, a mixed use project planned to include office, hotel, residential and retail elements. “We are very excited to have Orlando Health as a major part of our mixed used development,” said Richard Toomey, Vice President of LMLD, LLC. “The addition of this major healthcare component will create a sustainable live, work and medical wellness town center and enable Lake Mary to remain competitive in attracting top tier businesses to the city.”

The project’s groundbreaking is scheduled to occur later this year. Plans call for phase one of the new healthcare campus to open in late fall 2018. For more information on Orlando Health’s new emergency room and medical pavilion, please visit http://www.orlandohealth.com/LakeMaryER
