Bio
Dr. Catherine Mercado is a board-certified radiation oncologist with the Center for Advanced Radiation Therapy at Orlando Health Cancer Institute. She provides compassionate care for pediatric and adult patients at every stage of cancer and has additional expertise in proton therapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery and image-guided radiotherapy.

- Brain and spine tumors and cancer
- Pediatric cancers
- Urologic cancers (prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular)
- Stereotactic radiosurgery
- Stereotactic body radiation
- Re-irradiation

Dr. Mercado’s Training
Dr. Mercado earned bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and women’s studies at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts and received her medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She completed her residency in radiation oncology and served as chief resident at University of Florida Shands Hospital and UF Health Proton Therapy Institute in Gainesville and Jacksonville.
About Dr. Mercado
Dr. Mercado is board certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology. During her residency, she received several awards for her research and patient care, including the UF College of Medicine Outstanding Educator Award and induction into the Gold Humanism Society.
Dr. Mercado has delivered presentations nationally and internationally and published her work in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals.
Outside of work, Dr. Mercado enjoys spending time with her family, tennis, pickleball and going to the beach. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
