Bio
Dr. Chadwick Smith is an acute care surgeon with Orlando Health Medical Group Surgery and a surgeon with the Orlando Health Complex Hernia Center. He is board certified in general surgery, surgical critical care and neuro-critical care. Dr. Smith’s surgical interests include acute care, robotic and burn surgery, and his expertise includes:
- Minimally invasive laparoscopy surgery
- Open repair surgery
- General surgery
- Trauma and acute care surgery
- Surgical critical care
- Abdominal wall reconstruction
- Hernia repairs
- Para-esophageal hernia repair
- Surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux
- Foregut surgery
Dr. Smith’s Training
Dr. Smith earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. He completed his residency in general surgery and a fellowship in surgical critical care at Orlando Health.
About Dr. Smith
Dr. Smith is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma. Dr. Smith serves as president of the Florida Society of Critical Care Medicine.
He was vice chairman of surgery at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center from 2013 to 2017.
For more than a decade, Dr. Smith has been involved in the education of medical students at Orlando Health. He is the program director of the surgical critical care fellowship and the director of the basic science education curriculum. He is a certified director for the Fundamentals of Critical Care Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support courses. Dr. Smith also serves as an assistant professor of surgery at Florida State University and the University of Central Florida and a courtesy clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida.
