Bio
Dr. Benjamin Tharian is a board-certified gastroenterologist with Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute. He is widely recognized for his expertise in managing complex digestive disorders, particularly through advanced endoscopic procedures, and his specialties include:
- Barrett’s eradication of luminal stenting
- Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography
- Endoscopic ultrasound
- Endobariatrics, including endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty and gastric balloons
- Anti-reflux procedures
- Endoscopic mucosal resection
- Third-space endoscopy
- Interventional endoscopy for children
- Balloon enteroscopy
- Unsedated colonoscopy
Dr. Tharian’s Training
Dr. Tharian received his medical training at Medical College Kottayam in India. He completed additional training with the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. He remained with the National Health Service for a five-year gastroenterology and hepatology program and completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship at Florida Hospital in Orlando.
About Dr. Tharian
Dr. Tharian is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and his professional memberships include the American Gastroenterology Association, Association of Bariatric Endoscopy and American College of Gastroenterology.
Before joining Orlando Health, Dr. Tharian was an educator and director of general and advanced endoscopy in Arkansas and a consulting physician and gastroenterologist in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Dr. Tharian is committed to advancing endoscopic training and quality improvement projects. He has written and contributed to more than 100 peer-reviewed articles about interventional endoscopy and serves on editorial boards and reviews submissions for several medical journals. He is a frequent speaker at international medical conferences.
