Bio
Lena Afxendiou-Soares is a board-certified advanced practice registered nurse at Orlando Health Cancer Institute’s neuro-oncology clinic. She specializes in caring for patients with cancers of the brain and spine, primarily in the outpatient setting, within Orlando Health, since 2021. She has worked as a nurse since 2015, with experience in hospital-settings, primary care, ambulatory infusion care, home health, behavioral health, and palliative / hospice care.
Lena’s duties include:
- Monitoring and managing toxicities of chemotherapy
- Monitoring and managing complications of cancer involving the brain and spine
- Coordinating multidisciplinary care
- Providing chemotherapy teaching
Lena’s Training
Lena received a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Tampa, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Central Florida.
About Lena
Lena is certified as an APRN by the Florida Board of Nursing. She is also certified as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-C) with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, a designation for nurse practitioners who care for patients from the time they enter adulthood and as they continue to age. Maria also has experience in surgical care and home health settings.
