Dr. Zissimos earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry at Florida International University in Miami and completed a post-baccalaureate research program at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. She earned her medical degree and Master of Science at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora. She completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and a pain medicine fellowship at Loma Linda University in California.
